Recording Artist/Songwriter/Producer Printz Board sat down with GRAMMY Pro in Austin, Texas to discuss his thoughts on producing other artists including the Black Eyed Peas, his approach to writing his own music, and his advice to aspiring artists.
“Don’t over think it. Content is king and we live in a day and age where you have 15-20 seconds to grab somebody, no matter what it is,” he shared.
Printz Board has made a name for himself as a successful musical director, songwriter and producer. He founded a production company, Beets & Produce, in 2001 and has worked with Natasha Bedingfield, Sheryl Crow, Baby Bash, and the Black Eyed Peas. Starting as a keyboard player with the group, he soon became the Black Eyed Peas’ live show musical director and co-wrote some of their biggest hits, including “Where is the Love,” “Don’t Phunk With My Heart,” and “Meet Me Halfway.” Throughout his career, he has collaborated with Michael Jackson, Macy Gray, Sergio Mendes, Fergie, Selena Gomez, and many others.
In 2013, Printz Board launched his solo career with the singles “#1” and “Hey You.” His music, a blend of hip-hop, R&B, pop, rock, and soul, gained him a feature on MTV’s “Buzzworthy.” Pre-Games, Printz Board’s debut EP, is out now.
